It certainly took a long time for the bishops [of the Philippine Catholic Church] to admit that the Edsa II coup d'etat, which was definitely backed to the hilt by the bishops, along with the military, was a mistake....
But did it take seven years for the bishops, along with the sanctimonious elite civil society, to realize that mistake, or did they already realize that big mistake early on, but closed their eyes to the sin they all committed, refusing to admit it was not God who had installed Gloria Arroyo but the devil who dwelled in all of them all the time they — including the then Chief Justice of the high court — plotted a coup to depose then sitting President Joseph Estrada, the legitimately elected popular president...[emphasis supplied]
Evil lurked in Gloria's government, and many, including the bishops, the justices, the Congress, the elite civil society, whether in the form of the $14-million kickback in the Impsa ... and even of the massive election cheating in [the 2004 Philippine Presidential elections], to ensure her stay in Malacañang by defrauding the will of the electorate, all closed their eyes to the evil even when the evidence stared them in their faces.

The Catholic Church and their annointed President, the 'Most Corrupt' and 'Evil' Gloria Arroyo
I really think that both estrada and GMA are both corrupt politicians the political clans rule the roost here its been the way since and before the US handover.
Supporters of Estrada argue that he is not corrupt in the sense that it's not the treasury he took liberty with but instead, unofficial money such as those from jueteng.
Having said that, the greater issue, I guess, is that Estrada's supposed deeds miserably pale in comparison with those of Gloria. Going by the premise that most (but not all) politicians here are corrupt and Erap is among them, still, the former President is no evil, while Gloria definitely is.
The way Gloria Arroyo took power and combined with how she retained it in 2004 already smack of evil--how could any public servant/official who is able to stomach power grab and electoral fraud be expected to truly serve the nation?
I'm sure this Most Corrupt (and "evil," says Sec. Neri supposedly) bogus President have supporters who sincerely mean well for the country. And you're apparently one of them, Bob. It drives me nuts, then, how good people have continued to overlook the terrible acts and still believe in her! All her plunder and corruption--they're practically just icing candies on the cake.
